The aim of this activity is to help you understand:

• How many people and businesses are we trying to reach?
• How much and what type of energy do we all consume?
• What is energy costing my community?

1. Define your community boundaries first. After you have done some preliminary thinking, for example via the defining community activity, look at who is connected to each other via your electricity network. Both of these exercises will help you decide who you want to include.

2. Get the ABS statistics for your community.

3. Create an inventory of businesses and community organisations. This is also part of your stakeholder mapping exercise so it is worth doing well.
